Hello!

My name is Reshu Lakra and I am a children's book Illustrator based in India. I grew up very close to my family and cousins, watching cartoons and being a silly kid. My work is cute, vibrant and tries to capture emotions and the beauty of relationships. I absolutely love to add a dash of humor to my work. I like to deeply explore my characters and love to illustrate both animal and human characters. I have a soft spot for textures and details in my work. I use both traditional and digital tools to create my artworks and often combine them to bring out the right textures. I am very keen on writing stories for children.

 

My sketchbook is my companion and it's a safe space for me to practice my craft. It's a place where I can be free, try new medium, draw a variety of subjects, play and mess up. Gouache and color pencils are my favorite traditional mediums.

 

Growing up, I did not have access to libraries and books other than the academic ones which made me cherish them even more. Every morning, I pull out a picture book from my shelf and enjoy the story told so fantastically by illustrations while every night you could find me immersed in a mystery book, perhaps. When I ​am not drawing, you could also find me browsing websites of art supply stores, travelling to the hills, trying new recipes, having tea, crocheting or cracking jokes with my loved ones.
